More about our Lodge

With its spectacular panoramic views, The Desert Lily is a peaceful and delight-filled place to experience all that this high desert wonderland has to offer.

The Lodge is surrounded by desert foliage and creatures of all descriptions. Be warned: stay away from cacti, but be sure to listen for the music of coyotes and to observe the quail families, lizards, jackrabbits, tortoises and other creatures that call this desert home. Watch the rising sun softly color the mountains and sky in pink and orange glowing light. Invisibly, the desert wind picks up. It interacts and magically brings the sculpture garden to life… each sculpture’s distinctive movement mirrors the shifting nature of the wind and environment. Admire the hummingbirds flitting and swooping about in their desert garden that is surprisingly lush and fragrant when full of springtime blossoms.

Depending on when you are here, spend your evening gazing at the brilliant starry sky or bathe in the intense desert moonlight that turns night to day. A beautiful wall of adobe and bottles surround a cozy fire pit where you can snuggle up around a fire on cool evenings. You may want to curl up in the hammock and dream of other worlds, or sip port beside a fire in the great room. The weather in the high desert is cooler than in Palm Springs, only 40 miles away in the low desert. Fall is delightful with warm days and cool evenings. Winter is a wonderful time to do outdoor activities that might be too strenuous for very warm days. The spring season is glorious with the desert bloom. And… the sun is almost always shining.

Hiking, rock climbing and horseback riding are extraordinary experiences in this rock-strewn, mountainous desert landscape. Find suggestions about the most interesting places to visit, including a magnificent orchid farm; Pioneertown that was built by Roy Rogers and Gene Autry for making those old time westerns; Artist Noah Purifoy’s wonderful outdoor sculpture studio; unique area shops and antique stores.

If you would enjoy an amazing desert massage or spa treatment, that too can be arranged. Sound baths are available at the world famous Integratron. And, private or group “Nightsky Narrations” can be arranged on site, as no trip to the desert is complete without spending a few hours gazing at the night sky. We are happy to recommend a selection of local restaurants, as well as direct you to the local music scene.

Each room has an individual entry from the covered patio, private bath, queen-sized bed and has been uniquely decorated to create a relaxed but sophisticated desert experience. There are no televisions or phones, however, you can connect to the Internet using our wireless network. All rooms are non-smoking.

While we do not serve breakfast, there is a fully equipped kitchen and you are more than welcome to bring food and store it in the fridge! If you’d like to stop at a grocery store, look for Vons or Stater Bros., both on Hwy 62 in Yucca Valley.
We’ll provide the basics (coffee, tea, salt, pepper, oil)

My wife, Colleen, and I spent the most amazing weekend at the Desert Lily. Carrie was a generous host. She has a lovely place and makes a wonderful breakfast. We owned a home in Joshua Tree year ago and we have stayed at other places but the best place of all is the Desert Lily. We love this place.

We stayed over Easter weekend and truly enjoyed the place and especially, Carrie.  The place is immaculate and comfortable and the grounds are beautiful.  It was relaxing to hang out in the hammock and enjoy the beautiful view.  Carrie has goodies and helpful items throughout the place to make the stay more comfortable.  There was a backpack in our room to borrow, guide books for Joshua Tree, and a blanket and flashlight to use at night.  Carrie was very welcoming and accommodating and I really enjoyed conversations with her.  She is an interesting person and made our stay unforgettable.  We will definitely return.
Thank you Carrie.
